If you arrive in Venice by car you can leave it in one of the car parks that are located in the entrance to the city and then continue on foot or using waterbuses or watertaxis. Venice can be reached by motorway (A4 from
Trieste and from Turin, A27 from Belluno, A13 from Bologna) and highways (SS 309 Romea from the Adriatic coast, SS 14 fromTrieste, SS 13 from Treviso, SS 11 from Padua). When you are near the Lagoon you will need to cross the causeway (Ponte della Libertà) that links the mainland to Venice.
The roadsigns for the city take you to Piazzale Roma where you can park your car. There are a number of car parks with hourly and daily rates, but a much less expensive option is to leave your car at the Tronchetto island (turn right at the traffic lights at the end of the Ponte della Libertà causeway.
Another possibility is to leave your car in Mestre - either at the car parks located near the mainland side of the Ponte della Libertà or near the Rail Station - and arrive in Venice by bus or train.
